NCERT Solutions For Class 10 Science Chapter 3 Metals and Non-metals - PDF Download

Students can take help from NCERT Solutions for class 10 science chapter 3 Metals and Non-metals to study for their board examinations. In this chapter, you will learn that Elements can be classified as metals and non-metals. Metals are lustrous, malleable, ductile and are good conductors of heat and electricity. They are solids at room temperature, except mercury which is a liquid. Metals can form positive ions by losing electrons to non-metals. Non-metals have properties opposite to that of metals. They are neither malleable nor ductile. They are bad conductors of heat and electricity, except for graphite, which conducts electricity.

What are Metals and Non-Metals?

Metal- A metal is a material (an element, compound, or alloy) that is typically hard, opaque, shiny, and has good electrical and thermal conductivity. Metals are generally malleable — that is, they can be hammered or pressed permanently out of shape without breaking or cracking — as well as fusible and ductile.

Non-Metal- Nonmetals have properties opposite those of the metals. The nonmetals are brittle, not malleable or ductile, poor conductors of both heat and electricity, and tend to gain electrons in chemical reactions.

These CBSE NCERT Solutions for class 10 science chapter 3 Metals and Non-metals will help you to practice all the topics in the chapter with ease and score maximum marks in the Board examination.
